Students' groups clash in DU's north campus

Three persons, including a journalist, were injured when a scuffle broke out between two students' groups on Thursday at Delhi University's north campus. As many as 300 students were gathered outside the arts faculty to attend a protest meeting called by left-affiliated All India Students Association (AISA) when the incident happened.

"They started abusing the speakers and then forcefully entered into the event and started physically beating the students who were gathered there," AISA's Presidential candidate for this year's DU elections Kawalpreet Kaur said, who was allegedly thrashed by the ABVP activists.
A print journalist was also thrashed allegedly by the ABVP activists when he was shooting the incident using his cell phone. "I was grabbed by the collar and was thrashed too," he told DNA, adding police acted like a mute spectator and did not intervene to control the situation. ABVP, on the other hand , alleged that AISA activists attacked them while they were holding a peaceful protest against 'attempts of communist elements.'
