Shoddy probe? Haryana cops face questions

The murder of seven-year-old boy at the Ryan International School on September 8 this year highlighted security lapses at the school, but most importantly brought the shoddy probe carried out by the Haryana Police to light.

From the DCP Traffic being made in-charge of the case to washing up of the crime scene, the Haryana police did not investigate the case properly.

Earlier, the Haryana police arrested a bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, who is currently lodged in jail, for the crime. The police had claimed that the conductor had even confessed to the crime. Their theory initially was that the conductor wanted to assault the child and when the boy raised an alarm, he murdered him.

The investigation carried out by CBI officials have, however, given a different perspective to the case. The parents of the victim — from the time their child was killed — had always believed it was not the conductor who had murdered the child. They said therwas a larger set of circumstances behind it which the police did not uncover.

The parents also said the police had lapses in their investigation.
