The SDMC's South Zone building department on Wednesday took a massive action against the unauthorised constructions in Chattarpur Enclave, Freedom Fighter Colony and Kishangarh, wherein 7 properties were demolished and have been left in uninhabitable conditions, so as to leave no scope for any further unauthorised constructions or its use. Separate demolition teams were constituted to take action and overcome the tendency of unauthorised constructions. Three properties each in B block Chhattarpur Enclave & A block Freedom Fighter Colony and one property in Kishangarh were demolished.

The building department has been taking action against unauthorised constructions for demolition under provisions of the DMC Act 1957. The department has also been issuing notices to the unscrupulous builders, as it has been observed that such builders were targeting the gullible citizens of getting them more habitable space at a cheaper cost without getting the building plan sanctioned.

During the last two months, the department has taken 116 demolition actions and 51 sealing actions against unauthorised constructions in Chhattarpur Enclave, Mehrauli, Kishangarh, Said-ul-Azaib, Panchsheel Vihar, Khirki, Savitri Nagar and Gautam Nagar. Further, the localities are being inspected regularly and unauthorised constructions carried out by the unscrupulous builders are identified.
