Senior citizen robbed of cash at gunpoint from his home in West Delhi

After robbing him, they took away the CCTV recording with them

A 65-year-old financier has alleged that two men held him hostage at gunpoint inside his house and robbed him of his belongings worth Rs 45 lakhs on the pretext of returning the loan. The incident took place on Sunday night in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area. After robbing him, they took away the CCTV recording with them. Police have registered a case and are checking the CCTV of the surrounding areas in order to find clues in the case.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Girdhari Lal (65), who runs a finance company Shilpi Leasing Pvt Ltd, was held hostage and robbed of his belongings.

On Sunday at around 8:30 pm, police received a call regarding robbery in the house of a financier in Punjabi Bagh area, a senior police officer said.

After reaching the spot, it was found that during the incident, Lal was present in the house with his wife. At around 7:15 pm, two men came to his house and said that they are here to pay installment of a truck.

When the complainant asked them to come inside, they took out their pistols after entering the house, he said. The accused robbed them of cash, mobile phone and gold jewellery at gunpoint, the officer said.

Before leaving the house, they also took away DVR of the CCTV and their mobile phones. Police have registered a case and started the investigation. Police are checking CCTV footage of the surrounding areas, the officer said, adding that workers of his company are also being interrogated.
