Senior police officers said that they were able to apprehend the accused after the girl clicked a picture of the car while he was fleeing. They also praised the girl for her swift actions, calling her not a victim but a "hero."

According to the police, the woman had taken her dog for a stroll in South-East Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Thursday afternoon. As she was walking she noticed a man standing and looking at her in a strange manner. She paused but later continued walking.

The woman was walking in between parked cars when the man, who was nearby, allegedly opened his trousers and masturbated in front of her.

"The woman shouted at the man but he managed to run away in his car. While he was leaving the woman clicked a picture of his car. A case under section 294 (obscene act) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) has been registered," said Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East.

The police traced the vehicle owner with the help of the registration number of the car, registered in the name of Anil Kumar Gupta. Gupta then revealed that he had sold his Ritz car to one Pushkar of Hodel village in Haryana.

Police officers then reached the village and tracked down the Ritz. The accused identified as Tarun was then arrested. Tarun was Pushkar's driver and had come to drop off someone at a mall in Greater Kailash.

"What the girl did was smart and brave. We need more such girls who know how to speak and stand up for themselves," Baaniya said.
