With the arrest of three men, Delhi Police's crime branch claimed to have busted a gang of criminals who used to wear police uniforms and conduct thefts and robberies impersonating as policemen. Police also said that, following arrests a daylight armed robbery of Mayur Vihar has been solved.

The accused have been identified as Bharat Bhushan Datta, 36, Pankaj alias Naresh Pandit, 27, and Ravi Datta alias Amit, 29. The robbery had taken place on July 15, when these men in Khaki uniform intercepted a Honda city car around 8:30 am at Noida link road flyover in their Ertiga car and abducted the occupants of Honda City on gun point. After driving for about ten minutes, all the three occupants were pushed out of the vehicle at a secluded stretch and the assailants fled with Honda city containing silver ornaments, weighing more than 40 Kilograms worth lakh.

On Wednesday, around 3:30 pm a police team probing the robbery received tip off that three accused involved in the robbery will come near a Gurdwara to dispose the booty. On this, a trap was laid and around 6:10 pm, the trio was arrested. One country made pistol with two live rounds in magazine and 14 robbed silver chains with five silver coins were recovered from them, police said.

The accused told police that they used to follow their targets in two separate vehicles.
