According to the residents, over the past three-four days, the water supplied is contaminated and muddy.
Even after an increase in water charges by up to 25 per cent, dirty water continues to be supplied in many sectors in Noida over the past few days. This has led to the resident approach the Noida Authority to address the issue at the earliest as the water is not only unfit for drinking but also for household use. They are also been increasingly exposed to serious health hazards. The Authority claims that they have resolved the issue and the sectors will be getting clean water soon.
According to the residents, over the past three-four days, the water supplied is contaminated and muddy.
The Authority claims that they supply the water for three hours each in morning and evening but the residents claim that the supply of water is only for an hour each both in the evenings and mornings.
"First of all the authority claims that they supply water for three hours each in the morning and the evening but the truth is that it is supplied for an hour only. Secondly, from the past three-four days, we are getting muddy water supply and due to which we are unable to any. Forget about drinking, the water is even not suitable for washing the clothes," said Vikas Chaudhary, a resident of sector 51 Noida.
Residents have complained about this to the chairman and CEO of Noida Authority Alok Tandon and other officials of the water department, but the officials come with new excuses every time.
"The water is so dirty that it resembles water from the gutter. It cannot be used for any purpose. We are being forced to buy water for daily use," said Gulab Singh Bhati, a resident of sector 20.
A senior project engineer of the Authority said that the water supply was disturbed because of the cleaning of water pipes in sector 63 and Pratap Vihar in Ghaziabad
"After the cleaning work of the pipelines was completed, there were some issues which hindered the supply of water. The problem has been resolved now. Our team is visiting several sites and making sure that everything is sorted," said SC Mishra, senior project engineer of Noida Authority.
