After both the Noida and Greater Noida authorities put many ambitious infrastructural projects, approved during the previous BSP and SP regimes, on hold, home buyers and residents in the vicinity have erupted in rage. Agitated citizens claimed it amounted to cheating, as they had invested their hard-earned money in the area because of the proposed Metro expansion and other plans.

Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Satish Mahana confirmed the development.

Expansion of Metro rail from the City Centre to Noida Extension, heliport, convention centre, and Night Safari in Greater Noida were some of these projects. After the regime change in the state, newly appointed officers found the financial health of the Noida and Greater Noida Authorities lacking. It was found that crores were being spent on studies and surveys for these projects.

The government then decided to put these projects on hold. After reviewing them, the final call on whether to scrap them or to resume work on them will be taken.

Abhishek Kumar, President of the Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), said: "Thousands of home buyers are shocked after reading the news in DNA. On Tuesday, we will go to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority to raise the issue. The government is supposed to protect our interests but instead it is harassing us."
