He has demanded a survey of all Delhi schools to find out the actual status of availability of toilets, there usability and security aspects of such toilets in schools.
In another set of fresh allegations, leader of opposition Vijender Gupta claimed that government schools in Delhi lack basic facilities of toilets questioning Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's efforts to improve the education infrastructure.
Referring to the MBDAV School located in Green Park area of South Delhi, Gupta said that in an emergency, the children of the school have to run to a Metro Station situated near the school to use the toilet. "If a school child has to go for toilet outside the school, his plight can only be imagined but cannot be expressed in words. The approvals on the construction of these schools are given by the government only. It is not understood how such schools which do not have even basic facilities of toilets get recognition," he said.
Comparing the work with the Centre, he said that the Prime Minister Narender Modi has launched a nationwide campaign for a clean and healthy India under which lakhs of toilets are being constructed throughout the country. "On the other hand, Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party Govt has no time to see that Delhi Schools have at least basic facilities like toilets which are more important than the academics," he said.
He has demanded a survey of all Delhi schools to find out the actual status of availability of toilets, there usability and security aspects of such toilets in schools. "Such a survey can be done through NGOs working in Delhi, which can inspect the toilet facilities available in schools and apprise the government of their condition. These NGOs can also help the Govt to bring improvements in these toilets to make them useable," Gupta said.
