The clerics, who had gone to attend a religious gathering in Lahore, have been untraceable since Wednesday afternoon. Despite several attempts the kin of the clerics could not be contacted for comment. Even other clerics at the Dargah were cautious and refrained from giving any statement related to the incident.

"We can't say anything as of now. We will wait for another 24 hours before making any public statement," said Altamash Nizami, a cleric. "Several media people have been calling us since morning but we can't make an immediate statement before any formal confirmation. Even their family members are not saying anything related to the incident," he added.

So far no complaint has been received by the Delhi police. "We have not received any complaint in the missing clerics' case" said a senior police official.
