To cultivate friendship and ties between Japan and India, the Japan Foundation, New Delhi is organising the Japanese Film Festival at PVR Cinemas, Select Citywalk from September 28 to October 3. The JFF is a Japanese film platform to raise interest in Japanese films and draw in a larger audience in the ASEAN countries.

Norihiro Koizumi, renowned film Director of the Chihayafuru trilogy, will also join the festival and meet his Indian fans. The movies will be screened at PVR Cinemas and Select CITYWALK. A handpicked selection of 13 best releases from Japan with English subtitles will give the Indian audiences a sense and experience of the range in contemporary Japanese cinema, which includes features, award winners and of course, anime. "Through powerful storytelling, visual techniques and varied genres, the festival is seen as a platform to bring movie-goers together who share a common passion for internationally acclaimed films," a spokesperson for JFF said.

"The Japanese Film Festival provides opportunities for people to gather offline and online, under the vision of building a system for an extensive bridge between the Asia-Pacific film market and the Japanese film industry," the spokesperson added.

Movies spanning across different genres including romance, drama, comedy will be screened at the six-day long festival. Mixed Doubles is a story of love and rebirth centers on a cast of awkward, flawed characters who pair up as 'mixed doubles' to create a small 'miracle', an entertaining journey that 'mixes' humour, emotion and heartbreaking love. Internationally acclaimed movie Yakiniku Dragon is the story of a family whose bond remains intact even as it goes through turbulent times.
