Most-wanted stolen car receiver arrested, three cars recovered in Dwarka

A most-wanted receiver of stolen cars was arrested by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch from Dwarka in South West Delhi. The arrested person has been identified as Jishan alias Pawwa, a resident of Meerut, who allegedly used to sell the stolen cars in Meerut's infamous stolen car bazaar popularly known as the "mortuary of stolen cars". The police recovered three stolen cars and a loaded country-made pistol from his possession.

The arrest of Jishan has come as a major breakthrough for the police as he was involved in 25 cases of auto theft and tampering of engine/chassis in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. He had been declared a proclaimed offender in four cases in courts of Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad.

According to the police, Jishan set up his own motor garage in Meerut around three-four years ago. It is from this garage that he was running his illegal activities.

"He had received hundreds of stolen cars in this garage from different auto-lifter gangs in the Delhi-National Capital Region over the past few years.

He would then either dismantle them to sell off the parts or directly sell the cars to other such receivers of stolen cars in Meerut and elsewhere after keeping his commission," said an official of the Crime Branch.

The Crime Branch first came to know of Jishan's activities in September last year after an arrested auto-lifter had revealed about selling stolen cars to him in Meerut. In the subsequent months, two other auto-lifters revealed similar information about Jishan after being arrested by the Crime Branch.

Following these revelations, a team of 20 officers from the Crime Branch's Inter-border Gangs Investigation Squad began looking for Jishan and conducted raids in several of his hideouts. After a few months of rigorous search, the police team finally arrested him near Dhulsiras village in Dwarka on the basis of inputs from local informers.

PROBE ON

The police recovered a stolen XUV 500, a Polo and a Verna along with a hand-made pistol from Jishan. They are now investigating to arrest his other aides.
