The national capital can soon hope for some relief from the sultry weather with the India Meteorological Department saying monsoon is likely to hit Delhi on June 29. It's the normal onset date for the city. The body has further said that the monsoon activity revived over the weekend and is making a steady advance.

Delhi has been reeling under searing heat coupled with high humidity levels for the past two weeks. Additional director general Mritunjay Mohapatra said, "Conditions are becoming favourable for pre-monsoon thunderstorm activity over parts of northwest India from June 27."

HIGHS AND LOWS

Even as city recorded max temperature of 42.2 degrees Celcius, Mohapatra said that monsoon has revived and advanced to Gujarat’s Saurashtra region.
