According to the police, the accused has been identified as Rohit (22), a labourer, who lured the boy on the pretext of chocolates and took him to his home. Later, he sodomised and gagged his mouth following which the boy died.

"The boy's mother had lodged a missing complaint on March 27, when her son did not return home after playing. The boy's body was found on a deserted road on the intervening night of March 27 and 28. During the investigation, police rounded up few people to investigate. We then managed to ascertain the alleged role of Rohit, after people told us the boy was last seen with him," said a senior police officer.

During sustained questioning, Rohit broke down and confessed to his crime.

"On March 27, he saw an opportunity while the boy was playing, so he lured him on the pretext of offering chocolates and took him to his house and raped him. During the act, he gagged his mouth, it was then that the boy died. Rohit sat next to the body and thought about where to dispose it. Later at night, he disposed the body in a deserted place," the officer claimed.
