Homebuyers in Noida now have another reason to cheer as a Metro line could be extended till Sector 1 housing project giving them the much-needed connectivity.
This route will come as an extension of the Sector 71 line.
Sources in the UP government said the proposal will be tabled in the board meeting of Noida and Greater Noida authorities and discussions are on for the detailed project report (DPR).
The sources said that after the BJP government took over the reins in Lucknow, the Metro expansion plan was changed and connectivity to Noida Extension became a priority.
"The metro connectivity will be offered up to Ace City and Ace Divino in Sector 1. The metro will cater to lakhs of residents living in the area," said a senior government official.
The officials said that the project will not only be a good service for residents but also give a kick to the realty sector reeling under slump.
"Noida extension is already loaded with world-class infrastructure. Metro rail connectivity will add more feather in this region's cap. Already lakhs of people have shifted to this place and more coming in the next months," said Ajay Chaudhary, CMD, Ace group.
As per the new plan, the two Metro stations likely to be developed in Noida will be in Sectors 71 and 121, while the first station in Noida Extension will be developed near the township's roundabout which will head towards Ace City.
"The DPR of the project has already been discussed with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The authorities are keen to introduce the first Metro rail connecting Noida Extension with Delhi-NCR after a briefing from Lucknow," the official added.
Chaudhary further pointed out that Sector 1 has about 22 schools in its proximity along with offices of MNCs.
