According to senior police officers, the man, identified as Jitender, allegedly took the extreme step because of his poor financial condition. Jitender took a kitchen knife and attacked his wife and daughter at their house in Sangam Vihar area on Friday.

The incident came to light when neighbours heard the family members' screams and rushed in for help. When they arrived at Jitender's home, they found him lying in a pool of blood, while his daughter and wife were found in critically injured state. A crime and forensics team was rushed to the spot. They were all rushed to the hospital where the man was declared brought dead.

"He had inflicted sharp injuries on the abdomen area and chest of his wife and daughter and then stabbed himself. While Jitender succumbed to injuries at a hospital in New Delhi, his wife and daughter are undergoing treatment at the same hospital and their condition has been stated to be stable. Primary investigation revealed that the family was under stress because of a financial crisis and the couple was often heard fighting over related issues," said a senior police officer, adding that a case has been registered and the matter is being looked into.
