According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Niwas, who was returning home on a bike with his friend Vicky Gupta.

"On Saturday evening, they were returning home with some money. Gupta was driving the bike while Niwas was riding pillion. The duo used to supply polythenes to the local shopkeepers and then collect cash in the evening," said Avineesh Dixit, Station House Officer, Sector 39 Police Station, Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Police said, four men on two bikes intercepted the victims on the way and asked them to hand over the money to them.

"After intercepting, the criminals fired at Gupta and wounded him after he resisted the robbery. Niwas jumped off the bike and tried to run away with the cash bag. The criminals chased him for around 70-80 meters and shot him from behind," Dixit informed.

All the four fled the spot after committing the crime with the cash bag. The injured Vicky Gupta called the police and informed about the incident. The duo was rushed to a nearby hospital in Sector 66 where the doctors declared Niwas dead on arrival.

"We informed Niwas's family about the incident. Niwas received one deep bullet wound which led to his death while Gupta also received fatal injuries during the incident," said a senior police official.
