The two accused, who have been arrested, were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident.
In a bizarre turn of events, a man's ear was bitten off and chewed up after a minor argument in Outer Delhi's Sultanpuri area in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The two accused, who have been arrested, were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident.
Investigating officials revealed that more than three centimetres of the earlobe from near the cartilage were chewed up.
When a PCR call was received, it was difficult for the police to believe the occurrence of the incident. According to the victim Jitendra (28), he was walking outside his house around 1 am when the two passing by made weird remarks at him. "When he retaliated, they asked him if the area belonged to him.
The argument soon took an ugly turn and a scuffle ensued," said an official privy to the investigation.
The accused identified as Santosh (43) and Dipak (23) thrashed Jitendra black and blue. He fell to the ground and shouted for help after which Dipak held him from the back and Santosh, in a fit of rage, bit the upper portion of his earlobe and ate it up. The duo then threw him on the ground and fled.
Jitendra was rushed to a hospital where doctors stitched and bandaged his ear, however, the due process to fix his remaining lobe will take time. Police are probing if the incident was an outcome of a drunken brawl or if they were known to each other.
"A case under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). Further investigations are underway," said Rajendra Sagar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer.
