Man’s body found near railway tracks in South Delhi

The deceased identified Sanju Singh Rawat used to work in a canteen of a school in Greater Kailash II, police said.

A 35-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the railway tracks in south Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur area on Wednesday morning. Prima facie, it appears that the man was hit by the train as the man's face was severely damaged. Further investigation is underway.

The incident took place on Tuesday night, they said.

The deceased identified Sanju Singh Rawat used to work in a canteen of a school in Greater Kailash II, police said.

"A passer-by spotted the body lying next to the railway tracks near Sewa Nagar Railway station after which a police call was made. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead on arrival," Vijay Kumar, Deputy commissioner of police (south).

Police said that the deceased has visible injuries on the right side of his head, near the elbow area and on the right side of his waist.

"A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal code has been registered and we are investigating the case from all angles. Crime and forensics team were called on the spot to collect evidence. CCTV footages are being checked and people known to Rawat are being questioned to know more," said Kumar.

The deceased has been shifted to AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem. His family members have been informed and we are probing possible reasons of his death, police said.
