The accused identified as Akash (24), was set to get married but to impress his bride on the very first day of marriage, he thought to gift her gold and diamond jewellery.
In a bid to impress his bride on the first day of marriage, a man robbed over 17 houses and was planning to commit more such crimes when the accused was arrested by the Dwarka district police.
The accused identified as Akash (24), was set to get married but to impress his bride on the very first day of marriage, he thought to gift her gold and diamond jewellery, however, to accumulate the jewellery and other gifts, Akash decided to commit robberies and thefts. The total value of the recovered jewellery is estimated to be Rs 20 lakh.
However, his attempts to rob came to a halt after he was bitten by a dog during his last robbery. The Delhi Police during investigation scanned CCTV cameras installed in the area and found a dog bitting the robber. "After we saw he was bitten by the dog, we checked every private and government hospital in the area if any case of dog bitting was registered, which reached us to Akash," said Shibhesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka district.
Akash was later arrested while attempting to dispose of the stolen jewellery. A bag full of jewellery was found his possession and during the interrogation, he revealed that the purpose behind those 17 robberies was to accumulate jewellery and other gifts.
The police team has recovered nine stolen gold chains, five gold mangalsutra, 21 stolen gold and diamond rings, three pairs of stolen gold earrings, stolen gold bracelet and gold tops, one stolen LCD, one Laptop and three ATM cards.
