While the showers brought some temporary relief to the people, officials in the MET department said it was not going to affect the temperature in the coming days.

"There was a feeble cyclonic circulation present at the lower levels over Haryana and neighbouring regions, resulting in thunderstorm activity in Delhi-NCR," R Vishen, scientist-in-charge, IMD's regional weather forecasting centre, said.

The maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 38.3 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms are expected to hit the city again on April 26 and 29, officials said.

"While the day temperatures are expected to remain between 38 degrees and 40 degrees Celsius, dust storm or thunderstorms are likely to occur on Wednesday and on April 29," he said.

The maximum temperatures for the rest of the week are expected to hover around 40 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, a squall is likely in isolated areas around neighbouring regions, such as Haryana and Chandigarh.
