According to the police, the accused has been identified as Harender Nagar, who had hired two shooters to eliminate Goel on April 16, as things had gotten bitter between the two partners. Nagar carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest from the UP Police.

" We got a tip-off that Nagar would be going towards Mehrauli. Following which a checking point was placed near Kaya Maya Hospital. On seeing the police, the driver of the car sped up. The cops blocked the road by putting a barricade in front of the car," said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East).

As a Sub-Inspector opened the door of the car and tried to apprehend the driver, he picked up his carbine and aimed towards the police.

However, police overpowered the accused and he was arrested. A carbine loaded with 10 live rounds and a pistol having 2 rounds and 5 used cartridges were seized.

"During interrogation, Nagar revealed that in 2008, he met Goel in Dasna Jail. He convinced Nagar to join his gang, " said Biswal.

After jail release, Nagar started to work with Goel. They grabbed a property in Barola Village of Noida. After that, Goel started avoiding Nagar. He even started threatening him for life.

"Nagar revealed that before Goel could kill him, he killed Goel," said a senior police officer.

On April 16, land mafia Moti Goel was shot dead by two unidentified bike-borne assailants in Hindon Vihar area of Noida.
