The victim, a resident of JJ Camp near Burari, was trying to find a rickshaw to go to her brother's house in north Delhi's Jagatpur, when the accused offered her a lift. Three of the men were neighbours to her parents in a village near Bakhtiarpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP), and so she agreed.

"She was walking while waiting for an e-rickshaw to come by. The four accused, Nadeem, Naseem, Arun, and another unidentified person, stopped her near the Yamuna Bio-Diversity Park and offered her a lift,"the police said.

According to the victim, the men then took her to a field near Alipur in outer Delhi and raped her. Initial probe has revealed that the woman's family had recently had a fight with the family members of the accused.

"She said all four of them forced themselves upon her. Then they drove to an open and secluded field near Alipur and dumped her there in a semi-conscious state. After she came to her senses, she somehow managed to drag herself to the main road and sought help from the passersby. Police were immediately alerted, after which she was taken to hospital for a medical examination. A case of gang rape was consequently registered," a senior officer said.
