The south-west district of Delhi police has arrested a Jammu and Kashmir police constable for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The police said the accused had duped the victim to the tune of Rs 14 lakh on for the setting up a business.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Adil Hassan, a constable with the Jammu & Kashmir police and posted at Budgam district of Kashmir.

" Recently, a 27-year-old woman had registered a complaint at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station about a Kashmiri cop who befriended her through a dating app and raped her on the pretext of marriage. Following which a team was sent to Kashmir and the accused was held. He was brought to the Delhi on transit remand," said Devendra Arya, DCP (South West).

The police said that the local police helped the Delhi police in conducting raids and the accused was arrested from a house in Budgam.
