According to the police, the accused Ravindra Singh Parmar was already granted anticipatory bail by the Tis Hazari Court, and hence after being arrested, he was later released on bail.
The Delhi Police arrested the deputy secretary of the Urban Development Department on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting Environment Minister Imran Hussain at the Delhi Secretariat.
According to the police, the accused Ravindra Singh Parmar was already granted anticipatory bail by the Tis Hazari Court, and hence after being arrested, he was later released on bail. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a statement said that the arrest of only one accused in the mob assault case on Imran Hussain by the Delhi Police is a mere eyewash intended at misleading the court.
"Delhi Police, under directions from BJP's L-G has done nothing in three months since a murderous assault took place on the minister in full public view on 20th February," read the statement.
Investigating officials stated that the arrest was made following the evidence from the clippings of the alleged assault and the CCTV footages. He was released on a bail bond of Rs 10,000. Officials added that more people have been identified and will be asked to join the probe.
"The arrest of only a single accused on the eve of hearing in Tis Hazari court on Thursday on the application moved by Imran Hussain is only a ploy to distract the court's attention.
The murderous assault on the minister and his staff was pre-planned and the conspiracy was hatched by top bureaucrats who had provoked junior staff to carry out the attack," added the statement from AAP.
