The IMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the national capital and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
Delhi on Thursday received first rainfall of the season as India Meteorological Department on Thursday declared the onset of monsoon over the national capital.
Several parts of the national capital witnessed light to moderate rainfall as monsoon cloud covered the city.
The regional forecasting centre of the IMD said the monsoon has further advanced over some more parts of west and east Rajasthan, eastern parts of Haryana, Delhi, entire Uttar Pradesh and most parts of Punjab on Thursday.
"Southwest Monsoon further advances over some more parts of west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, eastern parts of Haryana, Delhi, entire UP, most parts of Punjab and some parts of Haryana today dated 25.06.2020," said Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of the regional forecasting centre of the IMD.
"The northern limit of the monsoon passes through Nagor, Alwar, Delhi, Karnal and Ferozepur," he further said.
The IMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the national capital and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
The MeT department also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the national capital.
Normally, the wind system reaches Delhi on June 27.
Weather experts have attributed the early arrival of the monsoon in Delhi to a cyclonic circulation which moved towards southwest Uttar Pradesh on June 19 and June 20, helping monsoon advance further.
