Taking note of a petition which claimed that "one can guarantee delivery of a pizza in 30 minutes in India, but not the arrival of an ambulance", the Delhi High court on Friday sought the response of the Delhi government and the Centre on a plea which alleged that there is not a single government hospital in Najafgarh.

A bench of Acting Chief Justices also questioned the AAP government about the functioning of Mohalla clinics in the Najafgarh area.

The queries were posed while hearing a petition filed by Parmeshwari Devi, through her counsel Abhishek Chaudhary, which said that there is massive problem with no government hospital in Najafgarh. She highlighted how pregnant women of the area face great risk and pain when they require a hospital for delivery as the other hospitals are far, because of which, both the mother and the baby are at risk.

While seeking a reply, the court directed the respondents to file a status report within four weeks thereby fixing the next date of hearing to November 22. During the proceedings, the counsel for Delhi government stated that there are four mohalla clinics and two dispensaries. The plea filed said that in several instances the woman or the baby's life was lost because of no hospital in the vicinity.
