Close on the heels of Sheila Dikshit hinting at the possibility of Congress-AAP alliance, senior BJP leader and MoS, Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel wrote a letter to former Delhi Chief Minister stating that the "fear" of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have compelled the two arch-rivals to join hands.
"At the age of 80, due to the 'greed of power', you want to make a political compromise with Arvind Kejriwal who once called you 'blatantly corrupt'. The people of Delhi are witnessing how both you and Kejriwal are cheating them," Goel said in a letter to former Delhi chief minister.
Dikshit, who was the chief minister of Delhi for 15 years and once a bitter critic of Arvind Kejriwal, said that whatever decision the Congress command takes on the alliance with the AAP in Delhi she will simply "welcome" it.
"Kejriwal had taken the pledge in the name of his own children that he would never join hands with the Congress. But he didn't stick to his words and had already formed the government with the help of Congress once," Goel said.
"Now, the fear of BJP and PM Modi has gripped you. Therefore, the two corrupt parties want to fight the 2019 elections together," he said.
Goel said, "Maybe because Kejriwal has done the same amount of corruption which is in tune with the corruption allegations he labelled against of you."
He said now both the parties are sailing in the same boat and it is no big deal if they become ready for a compromise.
"Was that all drama when Congress demonstrated against Arvind Kejriwal government on the issues of water, electricity, education, health and corruption ?," Goel questioned.
He said Kejriwal, during his four-year rule, has completely destroyed Delhi. Goel quipped that Dikshit has not said a single word against the series of corruption committed by AAP government in Delhi.
The BJP swept the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi scoring 7-0 while AAP and Congress drew blank. The AAP came second while the Congress stood third.
DIKSHIT’S REPLY
Dikshit said that whatever decision the Congress command takes on the alliance with the AAP in Delhi she will simply “welcome” it.
