Greater Noida: Man murders wife over breakfast menu, arrested

A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife after a heated argument over the breakfast menu. The incident took place at the Ecotech 3 area of Greater Noida on Saturday morning.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mukesh. He had a heated argument with his wife Rekha after which he strangulated her to death. Mukesh was arrested following a tip-off about him fleeing the city.

"The incident took place on Saturday morning around 9 am when the couple had an argument over what to cook for breakfast. Soon the argument turned sore and Mukesh strangulated her with the help of a rope and fled the spot," said a senior police officer.

The police said that a PCR call about the incident was made by the accused's brother who lives in the next room.

"A police team reached the spot and found Rekha lying dead on the bed. She was strangulated at the neck using a rope," said the officer.

Sources said that the couple was involved in repetitive fights over the past few days. "Over the past one month, the couple was involved in repetitive fights on domestic issues. Mukesh does not hold any criminal history and committed the crime after losing his cool," said a senior police officer.

The police have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Ecotech 3 police station. The accused was produced before a magistrate on Sunday and has been sent to jail.
