According to the police, the accused has been identified as Lokender, a bank agent, who allegedly dumped the daughter at Sihani Gate in Ghaziabad and later told the police that she was abducted.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly leaving his 8-year-old stepdaughter alone in Ghaziabad on Thursday night, to get rid of the responsibility. He was arrested from Kasna area of Greater Noida on Friday morning. The man has been sent to jail, police said. The child was also rescued on Friday morning.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Lokender, a bank agent, who allegedly dumped the daughter at Sihani Gate in Ghaziabad and later told the police that she was abducted.
"We got a call at around 9 pm on Thursday night from Lokender about the abduction of his stepdaughter. We started a search operation in the nearby areas. However, she couldn't be found till midnight," said Shalendra Partap Singh, Station House Officer, Kasna Police station.
After the initial investigation, it was revealed that she was last seen with Lokender. Following which the family members of the girl were apprehended.
"During interrogation, it came to light that Lokender was unable to cope up with the upbringing of his stepdaughter. After questioning, he confessed to the crime and stated that on Thursday afternoon, he took his daughter to Ghaziabad area and left her alone there. Later at night, he called the police," said Singh.
Police said that he got married to a woman around 3 months ago, who already had a daughter. But then, he could not bear her expenses and in order to get rid of his responsibilities, he faked the abduction.
