In the broad daylight murder, the assailants pumped at least 10 bullets into the head and upper body of Monu Maan, alias Nepali, killing him on the spot. The attack is suspected to be another revenge killing between the Gogi and Tillu gangs. This is the third such incident in a year's time in the vicinity of the Rohini Court complex.

The Delhi Police said 26-year-old Maan belonged to Gogi's village Alipur in outer Delhi.

According to eye witnesses, the murder took place near Amritsari Naan Shop on Power House Road opposite Rohini court around 12.20 pm.

"Maan was standing with one of his aides, Vinay Siroha, when the bikers pulled in and the pillion rider opened fire on him. As soon as Maan collapsed, both the rider and the pillion rained bullets on him. Siroha, meanwhile, managed to escape," said a senior police officer.

"Maan was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. A crime and forensics team was also rushed to the spot. The area witnessed heavy police deployment for hours after the killing. Police have scrutinised CCTV footage of nearby areas to ascertain the sequence of the event," the officer said.

Siroha later told the police that he identified one of the assailants as Amit, alias Dabang, from Tajpur village in Delhi; a member of the Tillu gang, the officer noted.

Police said Maan was involved in attempt to murder, assault, extortion and cases under the Arms Act.
