FIR against Olympian for Delhi scuffle
The complaint was lodged by Praveen’s brother Navin Rana, who alleged that Sushil’s supporters gave death threats to him and dared him to participate against Sushil in the upcoming Pro Wrestling League.
The Delhi Police on Saturday registered an FIR against double Olympic medallist and former world champion Sushil Kumar, a day after scuffle broke out between his supporters and those of wrestler Praveen Rana at the KD Jadhav Stadium in central Delhi.
The complaint was lodged by Praveen’s brother Navin Rana, who alleged that Sushil’s supporters gave death threats to him and dared him to participate against Sushil in the upcoming Pro Wrestling League. Sushil later tweeted, condemning the violence.
Sushil and his supporters have been booked under IPC Sections 341 for wrongful restraint and 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, attracting an imprisonment of up to a year or a monetary fine of Rs 1,000 or both, the police said.
