A Toyota Camry driven by a drunk driver hit an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police leaving him severely injured. The accused who was later arrested was identified as Harshvardhan.

Around 2:00 am, ASI Harender was on picket duty in Panchsheel Park when a speeding car came towards him and hit him. The impact left him severely injured as he received multiple fractures on his hands and legs.

However, after hitting Harender the car also ramped into the police barricade. The impact forced Harshvardhan to stop the car which let the police team to apprehend him along with Shobit who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Harshvardhan, who is a student of BBA at a private college in Delhi, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Shobit was also found drunk.

The police have registered a case under section 279 (rash driving), 337(causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC and 185 motor vehicle Act (being under influence of drugs to the extent of losing control over vehicle).
