Police have arrested the CPRF officer, seized his service revolver, and sent him to judicial custody.

Chitrapal, who is posted in Chhattisgarh, had come home for a vacation on Monday evening. After consuming liquor he had fired several shots in the area. When Yadav tried to warn him of the dangers he was playing with, he got shot.

“We had heard someone firing and we thought that someone was bursting crackers because it was Eid. My father came out of the house to check and saw Chitrapal firing with his service revolver. So, he went up close to him and said, ‘Don’t act foolish, you might just end up hurting someone.’” said the deceased’s daughter Pooja Yadav.

According to Pooja, her father then tried to take Chitrapal to his room where all of a sudden he fired at him. “I was standing on the terrace where I saw that my father had managed to convince him and take him inside the room. But he then came close to my father, pushed him away and fired at him,” she added.

An alarm was raised by which time locals gathered and nabbed Chitrapal. He was then locked inside a room, after which a PCR call was made. In the meantime, Yadav was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
