The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted an international drug cartel with the arrest of two people carrying 10 kgs of fine quality heroin from Rohini. The drug is worth around Rs 40 crores in the international market. Police said the heroin was smuggled to Delhi from Myanmar via Manipur, Assam by the duo.The heroin bundle was found in the rear seat of a Ritz car where it was kept hidden in a concealed compartment built especially for transportation of these drugs. In order to avoid any suspicion, the transporters used different routes instead of following a single path to reach the planned location. The Special Cell has, in this year, recovered about 80 kgs of fine quality heroin, besides other narcotic drugs, including 601 kgs of cannabis, 45 kgs of opium, about 2.35 lakhs tablets of Alprazolam, etc"From sources, we got to know that in Delhi-NCR an enormous amount of drugs were supplied from Manipur. On further probe, we found that Nasir is the main supplier of the drugs, who has been involved in such cases earlier. These drugs were supplied to Babu Khan of Rajasthan. The buyer stows a tracking chip on the vehicle so that they could track the car and no telephonic conversation was done. In the search for the other suppliers in Manipur and the buyers in Rajasthan, police raids are going on. Several mobile handsets and SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities have also been recovered from them," said Sanjeev Yadav, DCP, Special Cell. These drugs are circulated in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan from where peddlers sell them in streets.
