With tight security and heavy police presence in the National Capital ahead of Diwali to keep a check on the ruckus and thefts, a car belonging to Director of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) was allegedly stolen from South Delhi’s Seva Nagar on Tuesday.

“The vehicle belongs to a DRI official who works at the Paryavaran Bhawan. The vehicle was parked by the private driver Mohammad Sahid near his residence in Kotla Mubarakpur. Sahid is working with the DRI for the last two years and parked the vehicle in the night. Efforts are being made to trace the vehicle,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, the government vehicle has entry passes for places like the CGO complex and the Indira Gandhi International Airport along with other places. The police along with security agency went into a tizzy after the car got allegedly stolen due to the Diwali festival and scare in the Capital. The Scorpio vehicle bearing number DL3CCL9125 was eight months old. The car is said to have been stolen between 2-4am. 

An FIR has been registered in Kotla Mubarakpur police station and all agencies have been alerted to prevent any possible misuse of the vehicle by miscreants.
