Delhi University student assaulted by 2 men in Mukherjee Nagar area
The incident took place around 2 am, when the student was out for some work and was heading to her rented accommodation in Outram Lanes area
A Delhi University college student from the Northeast was molested and assaulted by a group of men in north-west Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area, during the early hours on Sunday. Police said efforts to nab the accused are being made.
According to senior police officers, the incident took place around 2 am, when the student was out for some work and was heading to her rented accommodation in Outram Lanes area. As told by the victim, it was then that two men passed lewd comments at her, which instigated an argument between them.
"The argument soon turned nasty and as the woman tried to call her friends for help, the two men assaulted her. It was when she tried to raise an alarm, the men fled the area. The victim then called the police and reported the matter," said a senior police officer.
DCP north-west, Aslam Khan said that a case based on the complaint has been registered under relevant sections for assault and molestation. "Efforts to nab the criminals are being made. CCTV footages are being checked to identify and trace them," the officer said.
