Connecting four main varsities of the national Capital region, the Delhi Metro's Magenta Line that will chug through the city's arterial Outer Ring Road is being seen as the 'knowledge corridor'.
The Janakpuri West-Kalkaji Mandir will come as a boon for students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) among others. It can be easily called Metro's knowledge corridor', Anuj Dayal, executive director, Corporate Communications, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.
The Botanical Garden Kalkaji Mandir section that became operational in December last year, has already eased connectivity to Jamia Milia Islamia University and Amity University, Noida. While the former has a station named entirely after itself, the latter makes use of Ohkla Bird Sanctuary as its nearest station.
"While IIT will have a dedicated station by the same name, the Munirka station on the Magenta Line will cater to JNU which will be within a distance of about two kilometres," he further said.
