Delhi: Harassed and stalked, woman commits suicide in Shahdara

The accused identified as Prateek Bajaj who runs a confectionery shop with his father in Rohtash Nagar.

A 28-year-old woman committed suicide at her residence in Shahdara’s Mansarovar Park area on Thursday morning allegedly for being stalked by a man for the last two years. Police have recovered a suicide note she left behind.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said that the police have registered a case on the charges of abatement to suicide and arrested the accused identified as Prateek Bajaj who runs a confectionery shop with his father in Rohtash Nagar.

Police said that the woman was found hanging at her residence on Thursday morning when her husband woke up. In a two-page note, she had written that she was being harassed by the accused who was forcing her to have an extra marital relationship with him. He was also threatening her to share some of the old photographs of both of them with her husband. The woman’s family told the police that Bajaj is a former business partner of the deceased’s husband and he knew the couple before they got married.
