The south district of Delhi police arrested six people for allegedly murdering a 31-year-old passersby while fighting among themselves in South Delhi's Sangam Vihar, on Friday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar, the accused have been identified as Imran (25), Ashu Gupta (21), Mohd Arshad (20), Rakesh alias Raka (23), Inder Kumar (19), and Manoj Kumar (20). All except Imran and Arshad have a criminal background, Kumar further added.

On Friday evening, at around 7:15 pm, the police received a call regarding firing at the Mangal Bazar road. When the police reached the spot, they found a person bleeding and the victim was immediately rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The man was identified as Kanhaiya Lal, a resident of Sangam Vihar.

During investigation, the police was informed that two groups enagaged in a fight and had sticks and country-made pistols in their possession.

"A scuffle had broken out between Arshad, Nitin and Sanu on one side and Ashu, Manoj, Rakesh, Imran, and a few others on the other side. They were beating each other with sticks and eventually, Manoj and Sanu pulled out pistols and started firing at each other. One of the shots hit Kanhaiya Lal, who was passing by," Kumar said.

A case under section 302, 307, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and 25 and 27 of the Arms Act has been registered and efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused.
