Although several participants of the candle march were injured in the lathi-charge, Sushil Bhatt, a resident of Haldwani was injured severely. "We were peacefully registering our protest when the police team thrashed us. This is sheer monarchy and nothing else," said a member of Anna's core team.

The team member alleged that they were lathi-charged by Delhi policemen present at Ramlila Maidan, even though they were peacefully walking towards India Gate to motivate more people to take part in the protest for the welfare of farmers.

However, Deputy Commissioner of Police, MS Randhava did not respond for comments despite repeated calls.
