Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Manoj Tiwari demanded re-initiation of e-PoS (electronic point of sale) for ration distribution “with immediate effect”, during a press conference held at the local BJP officer here on Thursday. He also that failing which, the BJP will initiate citywide protests.

Addressing the media, Tiwari said that scrapping of e-PoS smacked of ration scams going on within the Aam Aadmi Party government, citing figures that indicated savings in terms of both ration and money. “It is very clear that AAP has joined hands with ration mafia, which is the only reason that the Kejriwal government put an end to e-PoS. The three months that it was in practice, we saved crores of rupees and tonnes of ration,” Tiwari claimed.

Senior BJP leader Kuljeet Sing Chahal who was also speaking at the press briefing informed that from January to March, the government made a neat profit of Rs 24 crore and 1,74,000 quintal ration from implementing e-PoS. “We wonder what could be the reason other than ulterior motives of the AAP government, to scrap e-PoS when the government earned profit from the scheme,” he further said.
