Delhi BJP lashes out at AAP Government for water shortage in National Capital

The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for water shortage being faced by residents in various areas of the Capital.

Accusing Chief Minister of hoodwinking the residents, state BJP chief Manoj Tiwari demanded a white paper on the working of Delhi Jal Board.

Seelampur is one of the worst-hit places that is grappling with acute water shortage for the past 20 days. 

AAP MLA Ishraq Khan is facing the ire of residents and his party workers who, too, have lodged a protest against him.

The protesting members even raised slogans against the chief minister for failure to provide water during the month of Ramzan. Criticising CM Arvind Kejriwal, Tiwari said that the government was indifferent towards the problems being faced by the citizens.

"The government does not have a robust action plan to address water and power woes. AAP is busy indulging in petty politics even as the city is suffering in this blistering heat," he said. The BJP leader also said that the Delhi government had repeatedly failed to procure water from Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, to ensure regular supply. "It is rather unfortunate that the people of Delhi are being forced to buy water.

DJB does not have any timeline as to when it will regulate the supply. Because of this lack of planning, people in South, West and Central Delhi are forced to weave their lives around water supply," he said.

"In some parts of the city, residents are using dirty water because that is what the Jal Board is supplying. This is the same government that had promised free water across Delhi,"Tiwari said lashing out at the AAP government.
