Delhi: Another man dies in road rage, within 24-hours

In a brazen case of lawlessness on the streets of Delhi a 34-year-old man was shot dead on Monday night, making it the second case of a road rage killing within 24 hours. The incident occurred barely 50 metres away from the police post and hardly 100 metres away from the Geeta Colony police station.

According to the police the deceased identified as Sushil Chauhan (34) owned a cloth factory and would cut the shirt pieces. Chauhan along with his nephew Ashwini and Ashwini's friend Kartik had gone to attend the engagement ceremony in Loni area. Investigating officials stated that after the trio left from Loni they headed towards Kamla Nagar market in order to pick up Renu and two of her friends. Later, they stopped at a restaurant Panchari in Krishan Nagar for dinner.

They left the restaurant at around 11:15pm on Monday.

The car was being driven by the deceased and when they reached to take a right turn towards Pushta Road a scooty almost had a head on collision with the car. As per the statements of the occupants of the car when the man on the scooty came in front of the car Chauhan said "Abey meri gadi ke aage aake hi marega kya" (Will u die in front of my car), following which an argument ensued. "The occupants of the car stated that Chauhan got out of the car and was having an argument with the man on the scooty. The occupants thought of getting out but were scared and reamin seated in the car. As per their statement they did not even hear any gunshot. It was only when Chauhan came and sat in the car he told them he was shot in the left thigh. Chauhan continued driving despite bleeding," said Meghana Yadav, DCP, Shahdara.

Chauhan drove his car and the PCR call was made by Ashwini at 11:39 a few metres ahead of the place where the crime took place. He drove and collapsed midway near Geeta colony after which he was moved to an auto and Ashwini drove the car. Police suspect the accused man could have also fired at the tyre leading to the rim being damaged and a punctured tyre. However the car was driven with a flat tyre. By the time Chauhan reached the hospital he had died due to excessive bleeding.

Police officials are preparing a sketch of the two-wheeler guy as the area where the crime took place had no CCTV cameras.
