MUMBAI: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti Swimming Pool was abuzz with one name on Sunday. Aditi Dhumatkar of Khar Gymkhana was the only swimmer in the senior category to break a record in the Greater Mumbai.

She broke her own record, set last year, in the 1500m women’s freestyle event when she clocked 20:45:62 minutes. She also won the individual championship with maximum points, 35, from the five events she participated in.
She did have company, though. Fifteen-year-old Pronoy Adhikari of Mulund Swimming Pool also won all five events that he participated in.
The two of them have been dominating the championships since last year when they both set the records in their respective 1500m freestyle categories.
While Aditi had clocked 21:56:48 minutes, Pronoy swam the distance in 19:31:15 minutes.
Meanwhile, the other event that attracted maximum participation was the under-8 freestyle boys and girls. The two events had as many as 53 participants. The excitement on a Sunday afternoon was palpable, as both parents and children shouted out their delight or anxiety. In fact, each time they came out of the pool after a leg, they were anxious about their timings.
Apart from the one record that was broken in the senior category, three new records were set
in the under-8 category and one in the under-6 category.
Karan Jaising of Otters Club clocked 37:74 seconds in the 50m butterfly and 34.87 seconds in the 50m freestyle setting two new records.
Meanwhile, Sudanshu Sharma of RCF was the fastest in the 50m breast-stroke clocking 47:08
seconds.
Omkar Nehete shone in the boys under-6 25m breast stroke with a time of 25:87 seconds.
According to the organisers, around 250 swimmers participated in the meet.
