The body of a middle-aged man was found hanging from a tree in jungle area near Jawaharlal Nehru University on Tuesday evening. Since valuables of the deceased were not missing, police suspects it to be a case of suicide. However, the possibility of murder has not been ruled out.

The deceased has been identified as Rampravesh Singh, a resident of Saraswati Enclave in Najafgarh Delhi. His age is said to be around 40 years.

According to senior officials, at around 5.45 pm, the Police Control Room received a call saying a person had been found hanging from a tree at Nelson Mandela Road inside a forest area near JNU.

"A police team that went to the spot, close to a Transformer on Nelson Mandela Road, found a man's decomposed body. Upon inspection, a mobile phone, Aadhaar card, election card, the driving licence for a heavy vehicle, a wallet with Rs 90, and a Badge was recovered from his clothes," said a police officer.

Police said that other facts are being verified and the body has been sent to Mortuary AIIMS for post mortem.
