With the protest entering its fifth day, the Central government has proposed its draft to Anna Hazare and his core team. However, sources close to DNA have disclosed that the core team has decided to extend the protest till at least March 30. The Anna team is trying to recreate the same impact that the farmers in Maharashtra did by marching up to Mumbai.

The team is expecting to gather about 20,000 farmers from different parts of the country and march up to Parliament. The step would further cement Anna's image as the biggest social activist in the country and would act as a damage control to the low head count in the initial days of protest.

"We have arranged everything for about 20,000 farmers and we are expecting them on Thursday after they reach here, we would arrange a march up to Parliament, creating the same impact as the farmers in Maharashtra did," said one of the members of Anna's core team.

However, from the government's side, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to meet Anna on Wednesday.

On Monday, Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan had met Hazare and reportedly assured him that the Modi government was ready to accept the demands.

Hazare has been pressing for setting up a Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in the states to probe corruption cases, bring in new electoral reforms and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report to address the agrarian crisis.
