Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday cleared that his government will not impose lockdown in the national capital amid a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. However, he has made it clear that stricter curbs can be imposed in Delhi to control the deadly virus. "There will be no lockdown. New restrictions will be imposed soon," he told reporters today.
Earlier this week, the Delhi government imposed fresh curbs, including a night curfew, in the city from 10 pm to 5 am till April 30. On Friday, CM Arvind Kejriwal announced that all schools and educational institutions in the national capital will stay shut till further orders as cases have been rising.

Arvind Kejriwal has also urged the Central government to end the age limit bar for receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Kejriwal also said that the COVID-19 vaccine stock in Delhi will last up to seven to ten days.
"If we have enough doses and the age bar is removed, we can vaccinate people within 2-3 months in Delhi. Currently, we have vaccines for 7-10 days. We need to remove age criteria and scale-up vaccination," he said.

Delhi on Friday reported more than 8,500 coronavirus cases, the highest single-day surge since November 11 last year.
39 fatalities were reported on Friday, taking the death toll due to the COVID-19 virus to 11,196.
Delhi Health Department said the positivity rate in the national capital has reduced to 7.79%.
According to Health Department, Delhi has over 26,600 active coronavirus cases.
More than 6.68 lakh patients have recovered from the virus, taking Delhi's recovery rate to 96.46%.
