The child's father expressed suspicion about the two accused, Surender and Sunil, who were his tenants, as both of them were nowhere to be seen after the complaint was registered. Then, the police scanned the CCTV footage of nearby areas and saw the child walking hand-in-hand with the accused. The mobile phones of the accused were put on surveillance and it was found that they had moved to Ludhiana, Punjab.

"Meanwhile, the boy's father was able to talk to Surender, who demanded Rs 10 lakh for the child's release. A police team conducted a raid on Friday in Ludhiana and rescued the child and held three persons," said Pankaj Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).
