Delhi Police claimed to have thwarted a dacoity in the East Delhi area by arresting five men who it said were planning to target bungalows in Anand Vihar's posh localities. Senior officials said the men who were armed, were ready to target these localities in the early hours of the morning, when they were nabbed. Six pistols and 27 cartridges were recovered from them."Based on the information we received, a raid was conducted and five armed men who were planning to commit a dacoity were arrested from District Park in Dilshad Garden area on Tuesday. The accused were making their plans at a petrol pump on the main GT Road, Delhi. It was also revealed that many posh bungalows of Anand Vihar were on their target," said Nupur Prasad, DCP Shahadra.The accused have been identified as Kaushar Sheikh, Danish, Mohsin, Rubail Hussain and Mabud.During interrogation, the accused disclosed they had purchased these weapons from one Feroz, who is the main supplier of weapons."Earlier three weapons, including one automatic pistol and two country made pistols were recovered from one Imran, who was identified as the brother of Feroz and was arrested in Seemapuri area. Imran had disclosed that these weapons were given to him by Feroz. All five of them disclosed that another associate of Feroz, Azim had provided shelter to all of them. A search for these people who are at large is being carried out," Prasad said.
